Tanzania Flying Safaris – get quickly around & reach remote corners
A flying safari, also referred to as a fly-in safari, is a great way to move around quickly from one region to the next – especially if you are on a tight schedule. You would like to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration in Northern Serengeti but only have a few days? The solution is a 2-hour light aircraft flight straight into the wilderness and heart of action!
Flying between the different National Parks will not only allow you to save time, but you will also be able to enjoy incredible panoramic views of the various landscapes – even spot game from above. Some of Tanzania’s most remote wilderness areas do require a flight – especially if you like to encounter chimpanzees in Mahale Mountains in the far west of the country.
The domestic flights are conducted in small planes which can carry a maximum of 12 passengers as well as a limited amount of luggage. Flying safaris are usually more expensive than driving between the parks. There are various options to combine land and air travel, which makes flying however more affordable (for example a one-way driving itinerary with a fly-in/out of the National Park).
